Services

All students of the Faculty of Food Technology in Osijek can use our Reading Room and so can the students of other faculties in Osijek with the submission of the student`s ID. If you are looking for peace and quiet, come to our reading room. 

The librarian should be contacted before using the computer.

Visitors to our Reading Room are required to leave their coats and umbrellas in the cloakroom.

Food and drinks are forbidden in our Reading Room as well as the usage of cell phones.

Library Team may ask users who do not follow these rules to leave the Library and its Reading Room.

The Library can be used by:

1. the students of the Faculty,

2. faculty, associates and scientists of the Faculty,

3. other employees of the Faculty,

4. teachers, associates and scientists from other higher education and scientific institutions,

5. and external users.

• all potential users have got the right to use the library materials on the premises of the Library according to the Law on Libraries;
• reference literature, master's theses, doctoral theses and journals cannot not be borrowed and taken outside the Reading Room;
• the use of material outside the Library is permitted only for members;
• enrollment is free of charge, and submission of the Students ID is obligatory;
• users are required to fill in a personal information form confirming their acceptance of the rights and obligations of Library members;
• the Library is obliged to inform the user about the rights and obligations of the members of the Library; the library must check the status of the new member on the basis of the list of students of the Department of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Teaching for the current academic year or the list of employees of the Faculty of Human Resources Department;
• to members who do not abide by the rights and obligations of the Library, the membership may be suspended or terminated.

Interlibrary loan and exchange

With this service, library materials (books, scientific papers, etc.) from other libraries are obtained for the Library users. At the same time, other libraries are also allowed to borrow materials from the Library's holdings.

In addition to libraries in the Republic of Croatia, lending and exchange is also being done with libraries abroad. Ordering materials from abroad involves paying postage and services to the home library.

Learning programmes for users are designed for students of the Faculty of Food Technology in Osijek.

The education is implemented at several levels:

• searching the library's e-catalogue,
• searching papers (books and reference collections),
• searching the Union Catalog of Osijek-Baranja County Libraries and the Republic of Croatia,
• searching the e-catalogue of National and University Library in Zagreb,
• database search (Portal of electronic resources for the Croatian academic and scientific community),
• instructions for writing assessment papers (according to Faculty of Food Technology in Osijek rules).

LEVEL 1 - SEARCHING THE ALPHABETICAL AND PROFESSIONAL LIBRARY CATALOGUE

The user is acquainted with the PTF catalogue, trained to search by the offered parameters.

LEVEL 2 - PAPER SEARCH (BOOKS AND REFERENCE COLLECTION)

After viewing the catalog, the user gets to see the material they need, and then with the librarian tries to find a term in the book itself, that is, an encyclopedia or a reference book. The user is instructed how to find a term using indexes.

LEVEL 3 - SEARCHING A COMMON ELECTRONIC CATALOGUE

After the first and the second level, the user is introduced to the Union Catalog of Osijek-Baranja County Librariesand the Republic of Croatia and is able to search all offered parameters of the online version of the catalogue.

LEVEL 4 - SEARCHING A COMMON ELECTRONIC CATALOGUE (NSK)

The user is familiarized with the machine readable catalog (OPAC) of the NSK and is trained to search all available parameters of the online version of the catalogue.

LEVEL 5 - DATABASE SEARCH (Electronic Resources Portal for the Croatian Academic and Scientific Community).

The user is introduced to online databases research fields. The user is guided into the methods of searching and judging the quality of electronic sources, with particular reference to: CC, WoS CC, Scopus, SpringerLink, Wiley Online Library and EBSCO/Academic Search Complete, because these are the databases that are the most interesting to users.

LEVEL 6 - INSTRUCTIONS FOR ASSESSMENT WORK (ACCORDING TO FACULTY RULES)

The Faculty of Food Technology Osijek, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek offers Instructions for writing assessment papers(final, graduate, specialist papers). Every user who begins to write the paper examines the Instructions with a help from the librarian and resolves all their concerns regarding the writing style, with special attention paid to the processing of the literature and the way it is cited.

The Library offers Faculty scholars and students a variety of certification services for job advancement, project applications, scholarships and like.

• relevance and citation reports for scientific papers in relevant databases;
• relevance reports for journals to editorial boards of national scientific and professional journals;
• impact factor annual report for individual journals;

• certificate of mentoring, co-mentoring and assistance in preparation of assessment papers (final, graduate, specialist papers and dissertations).
